Love within the Triune God is the total and dynamic self giving between the Father and Son in such a way that they totally live within each other without loss of identity. It is a communion of the Father with the Son which gives rise to the eternal presence of the Spirit. In the life of God there is harmony of life which is the source of music, joy and serenity beyond our comprehension. As they poured out their love (the Spirit) upon creation, the Spirit becomes the underlying presence sustaining all things by the dynamic power of love.

This love which permeates creation enters souls in such a way that we become the dwelling place of the Spirit. God's love is therefore the Spirit dwelling in our hearts prompting us to love the Father as Jesus did as St. Paul states, "You received a spirit of adoption, through which we cry, "Abba, Father!" (Rm 8:15) Likewise, the Spirit leads to love Christ as the Father does who spoke thus, "This is my beloved Son, with whom I am well pleased." (Mt. 3:17)

The Holy Spirit is the artist at work in our souls which by his gifts makes us into an image of Christ. He works at the intuitive level of our being enabling us to see instinctively the truth, order and marvel of the supernatural realities. Some of the gifts work to enlighten our intelligence while others influence of feelings and move us toward action. "The celestial influence of this intimate Guest is called inspiration; its action is the breath of wind, delicately soft and irresistibly strong, that impels our life toward heaven, the warm and powerful wind of love that cleanses, eases, rectifies, consoles, refreshes--but also moves, carrying along all that is before it."82

These gifts are permanent dispositions of the soul as follows:
