We have already pointed out that truth is the mirror of intelligence. Creatures are designed structures, a harmonious assembly of parts toward a common goal.

"Our LORD
by your wisdom you have made so many things;

The whole earth
is covered with your living creatures."

Let us now consider in some detail the living design of a dragonfly and consider why it is a transcendent truth. The most obvious aspect is the structure of its wings which consists of a network of various size veins. These are hallow and carry hemolynph which prevents the curticle of the wings from becoming brittle. The vein-pattern varies from rectangular to polygons with more than four sides. As you can see, the wings have a three-dimensional relief. They vibrate in response to electrical impulses carried by the nerves and the dragonfly wings beat at 26 times per second and it travels at about 30mph, can stop abruptly, however in mid air and even fly backward.

This requires high energy and for this reason oxygen must reach each cell of it body quickly. Instead of veins with blood to carry oxygen, it has a complex network of air tubes which can do this very quickly. We must also note that it digests its food before eating it by applying solvent fluid to the food.

How did the dragonfly come into being?

Evolutionists suggest that the dragonfly may have evolved from a worm-like creature which developed legs and eventually wings. Dragonflies appear in the fossil record about 300 millions years ago. Although they were much larger then today, they have undergone very little change. However this may be, dragonflies did not come about by blind evolution since they exhibit an intelligent design. I am sure that many genetic and environmental factors contributed to its design but since all of these factors also come from God, He is the ultimate designer of the dragonfly.

The design of the Dragonfly lies in its DNA. Yuri I. Kulakov has spelled out the insertion of living designs in nature thus:

"Every living organism consists of the same atoms and follows the same physical laws which the inorganic material objects follow. All the difference between living organism and inorganic object is in existence of a quite definite and sensible program which was inserted (by whom? and how?) at a certain moment in the DNA molecule, which was not living before, in the form of a concrete sequence of the four nucleotides (adenosine, thymine, guanine, cytosine).
Gradually I became convinced that exactly these sensible and purposeful programs, rather than the notorious 'natural selection,' determine by themselves the principal difference between biology and the precise sciences where mainly physical and mathematical structures reign."
