3. Call to Conversion

This is the time of fulfillment.
The kingdom of God is at hand.
Repent and believe in the gospel. (Mk 1:1)
A variety of gospel scenes may be applied to this Mystery,
(e.g. Mk 2:3-13; Lk 7:47-48; Jn 20:22-23)

A Pharisee invited Jesus to dine with him and while there a sinful woman began to wash Jesus' feet with her tears, dry them with her hair an anoint them with ointment.

Simon the Pharisee was scandalized saying to himself, "Doesn't he know what kind of woman she is?"

Jesus turned to Simon and pointed out to him that the one to whom many sins are forgiven will love God more. Jesus said to her, " Your sins are forgiven". Those at table began to say to themselves, "Who is this who even forgives sins?" (Lk 7: 36-50)

Jesus my Savior,
you came to save sinners, not the just.
Have mercy on me, for I am sinful.
No one is just in your sight.

O Lord, Have Mery (fromPs 51:1-12) by Tom Lascoe

O Lord, have mercy, and wash away my sins.
For I know my transgressions, against You I have sinned.
Cleanse me with hyssop, and wash me white as snow
and restore to me the joy of the Lord,
Sustain me once again.
