Man was also created by God with an inherent order which is not immediate as in nature because it depends on his intelligence and free will. "The world's Creator has stamped man's inmost being with an order revealed to man by his conscience; and his conscience insists on his preserving it. Men show the work of the law written in their hearts. Their conscience bears witness to them.' And how could it be otherwise? All created being reflects the infinite wisdom of God. It reflects it all the more clearly, the higher it stands in the scale of perfection." (Pope John XXII, Pacem in Terris, 1963, #5) The following of this internal order would result in a life of love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, [and] self-control." (Gal 5:22-23) But as we know man refused to follow the dictates of his conscience from the beginning and began to experience disordered tendencies in the soul usually characterized by pride, greed, lust, anger, gluttony, envy, and sloth.
This bring us to natural law which is the creature participation in the eternal law of God.
God gives each creature a nature designed to act toward an end; it is destined to act with purpose. Inanimate creatures such as rocks and water must necessarily obey the law of gravity and thermodynamics. Animals such as alpacas must act according to their nature based on instinctual awareness toward self preservation and reproduction. Man, on the other hand, while subject to physical and instinctual laws is not defined by them; he can guide his life toward its proper ends by the use of conscience, intelligence and free will. Man and woman by the use of intelligence come to know the truths of natural law and can act accordingly toward the good both temporal and eternal.

For example, with the advances of the biological sciences, cloning has come to the fore of human consciousness giving rise to the question; "Is cloning in conformity to natural law or against it?" Right reason, taking into consideration all the factors involved, has concluded that it is against the law of nature and the dignity of the human person. But, just because some countries have made cloning legal does not make it right. These nations have said to themselves, "I decide what is right or wrong" thus succumbing to the primeval temptation of Adam and Eve "You will be like gods, who know what is good and what is bad." (Gn 3:5)
There can only be order and peace in the human soul and in society by following the eternal law of God which is evident in the nature of things.
law of the Lord if perfect, refreshing the soul....
The precepts of the Lord are right , rejoicing the heart.
The command of the Lord is clear, enlightening the eye."
