The Hail! Holy Queen (Salve Regina) is a thousand year old Christian prayer where Mary is recognized as Queen and Mother. Aware or our inclination to sin and the miseries it brings, we ask her intercession so that one day we may participate in the heavenly glory of her Son.

We became further aware of the fullness of Mary's Queenship with Pius XII declaration of her Assumption as follows:

"Hence the revered Mother of God, ... immaculate in her conception, a most perfect virgin in her divine motherhood, the noble associate of the divine Redeemer who has won a complete triumph over sin and its consequences, finally obtained, as the supreme culmination of her privileges, that she should be preserved free from the corruption of the tomb and that, like her own Son, having overcome death, she might be taken up body and soul to the glory of heaven where, as Queen, she sits in splendor at the right hand of her Son, the immortal King of the Ages". (Pope Pius XII: Munificentissimus Deus, No. 40)

The Eastern liturgy in this most profound prayer recognizes the intercessory role of Mary as follows:

"In giving birth you kept your virginity;
in your Dormition you did not leave the world,
O Mother of God,
but were joined to the source of Life.
You conceived the living God and,
by your prayers,
will deliver our souls from death."
