Christ told us not to worry but to look at the flowers of the field and birds of the air. They do not work yet my heavenly Father cares for them. Are we not worth more than flowers and birds? God's love for his creatures is nothing else but his will to bestow being, life, truth, beauty and even faith in his only Son. It was Jesus' Father who made known to Peter that Jesus was the Son of the living God.
But Jesus does not only tell us about the Father but that he is the image of the invisible Father.
"Philip said to him, "Master, show us the Father, and that will be enough for us.
Jesus said to him, Have I been with you for so long a time and you still do not know me, Philip? Whoever has seen me has seen the Father. How can you say, Show us the Father?
you not believe that I am in the Father and the Father is in me? The words
that I speak to you I do not speak on my own. The Father who dwells in me
is doing his works.
Believe me that I am in the Father and the Father is in me, or else, believe because of the works themselves." (Jn 14:8-10)
In other words, the Father is revealed by Christ human words and actions. His words and actions are also those of the Father. They reveal the Father's love for us. The Father was with Christ in healing the sick, casting our demons, raising the dead, forgiving sins, affirming that Jesus was his Son, preaching the kingdom and Christ dying on the Cross because this was the will of his Father.
In the parable of the Prodigal Son, we see a son who had left his father to "enjoy life" but was reduced to misery. The son decided to return to his father's home even as a servant, but instead was received by his father with love and joy. This is how the Father receives us when we repent because the Father is kind and merciful, slow anger and of great kindness. And, what a terrible death the Son of God endured because the Father loves us.
